Next…

Funny that is the word for this week. I am in the middle of figuring out next. I even downloaded Emily P. Freeman’s book The Next Right Thing because I needed to know. I feel like I have been given a glimpse for what is next, and a yes that is coming next, but I also feel like I received a wait with the yes. Wait for it. Just because I can do something does not mean it is the time for it. So that leaves me with I know later next, but now what is the immediate next right thing.

I think of  how many times Jesus tells the disciples something during the last week He was with them before the cross, then says, you do not understand now, but later, you will. The Holy Spirit would make it clear.

I am starting to wonder if that is where my next is at, in the future. But I need more information, and more clarity that I am not ready for at this moment. So I am trusting the next thing is what I have been shown, but also trusting God’s heart that He will reveal the timing of the next. In the meantime, I am to abide and do the next right thing for today, not for the future. To walk and trust that this whole thing will make sense at some point, and if not then it is not for me to understand, but to go deeper in my relationship with Abba.

  1. Hi Peggy! I’m your neighbor on FMF #28 and just popped over to read your wisdom. I am also reading Emily’s book! It’s wonderful. I can relate to your comment about timing. So true. Thank you for sharing about how Jesus would tell the disciples to wait. They will understand. Amen. God bless.

    1. Thank you for stopping by. I am so thankful for the timing of the book. I need to get a hard copy and mark it up. The audio is so good. I am thankful that Jesus is patient with us and knows the Spirit will reveal to us what we need later. There is peace in His confidence that we are not beyond hopeless. Blessings.

  2. Oh, it can be so hard when we receive that word/that answer “wait”! But what blessing there is when we will heed it and patiently be still until He gives us another word. Visiting from FMF and hope that you have a wonderful and joy-filled Easter!

    1. Thank you for stopping by. This was so interesting getting a yes and wait. Usually I feel like it is a wait and then yes. Always something to learn with abiding and what Christ is showing me about my heart. Blessings on you and yours as you celebrate the resurrection. We are the people of the Alleluia and Amen.

  3. I’m just about to start reading The Next Right Thing, and looking forward to it! And I relate to what you say. I think I’ve had an idea what is next for a while but was waiting on God’s timing. Now I think it’s time to start taking steps but I’m still not sure where it’s all leading. It’s so important to trust God for each step even though we can’t see the whole journey.
