Out my Window: Well, snow mostly, but the other morning the moon rose in the early morning over our hill. It was so beautiful. I also had a cardinal land on my window sill. Looking for the gifts.
Enjoying: Going to my first John Crist Comedy Show. So fun to laugh. Spending time away with my husband and son, although missing my other boy.
Listening to: Finishing up The Annie F. Downs What Sounds Fun Podcast Series on Next Generation. If you have teens or young adults in your life, they are worth your time. (Sorry they are all over the place, for some reason they are not on her regular podcast page.)
Reading: Almost done with Taste and See: Discovering Among the Butchers, Bakers, and Fresh Food Makers by Margaret Feinberg https://amzn.to/2SKLLyD There are a few sections that have been really helpful in shedding light on parts of scripture. Not a wow, or deep book, but definitely some really worthwhile nuggets.
Pulling out books I like to have around for Lent:
40 Days of Decrease by Alicia Chloe https://amzn.to/2Tog8PO is my main one this year. Going through this with a group of ladies at my church.
Bread and Wine: Readings for Lent and Easter https://amzn.to/2H2HMew this is one of my favorites to have around that I pick up and read throughout the season, every year. So much to digest.
Eastertide: Prayers for Lent through Easter for the Divine Hours Phyllis Tickle https://amzn.to/2Vgk16q I use the morning prayers to give me some focus to get the day going.
Devotions for Lent from Mosaic Bible https://amzn.to/2GLar8C
Others I have used: Margaret Feinberg always has a Lent reading through scripture. Last year I used her one on Mark: https://www.margaretfeinbergstore.com/collections/all/products/remarkable-a-40-day-journey-through-the-book-of-mark.
John Piper has a few, I used The Passion of Jesus Christ.
Pondering: Lent and what this year is going to look like. Still not sure. Also thinking about what March or Lent on the blog will look like. I am thinking I might take some of the reflections from my Lent book and write on the themes.
Learning: I have learned about fig trees from the book I am reading and have a much better understanding of that section where Jesus curses the tree. Reminded how much cultural literacy helps the Bible come to life. I think I might need to pull out some Ray Vanderlaan and watch again. I need to find a good book on Jewish and Middle Eastern Culture. Suggestions welcome.
Home: Cleaning up and preparing for Lent season.
Fitness and Mental Health: I seriously need a plan…. okay, I think I probably need motivation. Starting to feel frustrated. Treadmill is broken and the thought of energetic exercisers on a screen telling me what to do is not appealing. Mental Health… past week has not been a strong suit. Frustrated and annoyed too quickly at myself and others. I need more sleep.
Giving Thanks: For friends who pray. For Sunday morning small group ladies willing to dig into the word and pursue God. Love their honesty and heart toward God and each other.
